Calgary, Alberta – TransCanada’s Keystone Pipeline project(Keystone) will be donating $5,000 to the Garfield County 4-H Council to help fund repairs to the 4-H Exhibit Hall.
Garfield County 4-H Council serves rural Nebraska, a county of nine hundred square miles in the Sandhills area. Over seventy percent of the youth 5-18 participate in projects ranging from cooking to raising animals to robotics. 4-H serves as the largest youth experiential learning organization in our small county of 2000 residents.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – Nebraska has seen its first human cases of West Nile virus this year, and state health officials are urging residents to take steps to avoid the illness.
West Nile is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito that has picked up the virus by feeding on an infected bird.
The state Department of Health and Human Services said Thursday that four pools of mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile.

Authorities say 26-year-old Jacob Wolsleben was arrested Wednesday after a chase in eastern Colorado while driving an SUV stolen from Ravenna, Neb.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman wants federal officials to declare agricultural disasters in nine counties.
Heineman sent a request for the declarations into the U.S. Agriculture Secretary on Wednesday.
Heineman says extensive crop damage was found in the nine counties because of heavy rains, hail, high winds and flooding.
Once disaster declarations are issued, farmers in the covered counties will be eligible for USDA disaster assistance programs, including low-interest loans.
