ORD, Neb. – More than 500 area residents experienced the fourth annual Ord North Pole Express on Dec. 12 and 13. The event – organized by the Valley County Health System (VCHS) Child Development Committee – featured a reading of “The Polar Express,” viewing Christmas lights en route to the North Pole, visiting Santa and live reindeer at the North Pole and enjoying cookies and hot chocolate.
This year’s event again spanned two nights with seven departure times each night, allowing for more than 500 individuals to participate.
“The Ord North Pole Express has become the holiday event that families look forward to each Christmas season,” committee member Marcy Shafer said. “Hundreds of local families are able to enjoy an affordable, family-friendly event thanks to the generous businesses and community members who made financial and in-kind donations toward the event.”
“Because of the overwhelmingly positive response again this year, we’re looking forward to planning a similar event again next Christmas season,” committee member Michelle Weber said.
