A mid-afternoon thunderstorm rolled through the area Saturday, June 30, 2012 bringing a fast system combined with dangerous winds, hail and lightning. Dad’s Calamus East in Burwell had quite the scare Saturday when lightning struck just behind the business causing minimal damage. Owner Evelyn Greggory spoke with KNLV after the situation was taken care of. Greggory stated she and another employee were working when the strike hit about 3:30pm. The employee said there was a fire behind the store near the businesses main propane tank and the airconditioner unit. They were able to put out the fire quickly without incident. Electrical problems were temporarily taken care of with the air conditioner unit and business was back to normal within the hour.
