Emma A. Dutcher, 93, of Greeley passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Greeley Care Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at the Greeley United Methodist Church with Pastor Delano Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the Greeley Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Family. T.J. Finn and Sons Mortuary of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Emma was born March 8, 1919, to Ross and Mary (Cornell) Johnson on a farm in Horace area of Greeley County north of Scotia, Nebraska. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at a rural country school.
On November 9, 1944, Emma was united in marriage to Henry W. Dutcher at Smith Center, Kansas. The first year of their marriage they lived in Grand Island. The couple then purchased a farm 9 miles northwest of Greeley. They made their home on the farm until Henry passed in December of 1963. In March of 1964, Emma moved into Greeley and worked part time at the Greeley school lunch program.
Emma was known as a great seamstress. She made several wedding dresses and sewed for the Greeley community. She will be remembered for her beautiful quilts and embroidered dish towels. Emma continued making dish towels while residing at the care home. She also enjoyed hosting family gatherings.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Dorey of Chambers, and Mary Ann and Jim Ryan of Greeley; 4 grandchildren, Jaci Ryan and significant other, Rock Menyweather both of Grand Island; Meredith and Steve Krysl of O’Neill; Jon and Angie Dorey of O’Neill and Dallas and Marcia Dorey of Wayne; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley Suttles and husband, Kyle of Grand Island, Anthony Steenson of Grand Island, Jodyn Steenson of Hastings, Cole and Shayla Kleffner of Greeley, Abby and Emma Krysl of O’Neill and Maysn, Kendall and Jenner Dorey of Wayne; and 3 great great-grandchildren, Shanae, Caejon and Baelyn all of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; granddaughter, Lisa M. Dutcher; son-in-law, Paul Dorey; three sisters, Cora Ogden, Millie Meinecke and Mabel Creamer; and one brother, Lloyd Johnson.
