Feral Cats Problem In Ord

The City of Ord held it's regular meeting Monday night. A concern for the extreme feral cat problem in the Ord township was voiced by several people including day care owner, Mich Reineke. The problem of the stray cats using a playground as a litter box and the spread of diseases brought by the feline over population, including the problems of persons feeding the cats. Chief of Police Adam Miller has spoken with O'Neill, Cozad and Crete townships to see if they had ordinances regarding how to handle feral cat issues. No policies exist in these towns to control the problems. Live traps seem to be the only option. Thus leaving the trapping to the private citizens. The city council will be working on this issue.
The recycling surveys returned with 227 for and 211 against. A committee will be put together to look at bidding with recycling as an option and not mandatory.
