Jerry E. Holzinger, 74, of Ord passed away on Friday, July 06, 2012, at his home in Ord.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Evangelical Free Church in Ord. Pastors Doug Olson and Darrell Holzinger will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38.Visitation will be on Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Valley County Health System Hospice or the Evangelical Free Church. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry was born January 8, 1938, at Ord, Nebraska to Joseph and Frances (Halavinka) Holzinger. He was raised in Valley County where he received his education.

In 1957, Jerry joined the United States Army. He served for two years and was stationed in Germany. On December 6, 1959, Jerry was united in marriage to Twila Goff at Marysville, Kansas.

Jerry worked in cheese factories in Ord, Hartington, South Sioux City, Atwood, KS and Hannibal, MO. In 1974, they moved to Hebron and Jerry worked for Ron Hintz Trucking. In 1986, the couple settled in Ord. Jerry worked for Ord Co-op as a truck driver until his retirement in 2011.

Twila passed away on June 23, 2003. Jerry then married Dorothea “Dottie” (Sullivan) Moriarty on March 25, 2005, at Ord. The couple made their home in Ord.

Jerry hobbies included boating, camping and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Dottie of Ord; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerald and Monika of Los Angeles, CA; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Janelle and Kevin Leifeld of Tucson, AZ and Janeen and Marland Erbst of Stanton, NE; two step daughters, Salli Moriarty of Sand Springs, OK and Sandi McBride and her husband, Marvin of Elm Creek, NE; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Leonard and Eleanor Holzinger of Litchfield and Leland Holzinger of Lincoln; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Twila and a nephew, Dawaine Holzinger.
