Rupert John Bristol, 86, of Burwell, Nebraska died October 14, 2012 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Rupert chose to donate his body to science. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on October 20, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Pastor Dennis Davenport will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Veteran’s Park. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of arrangements.
Rupert was born February 13, 1926 near Ansley, Nebraska to George and Lola (Holland) Bristol. He grew up in the Ansley are and graduated from Ansley High School.
Rupert was drafted into the United States Army and entered the service on September 22, 1950. Rupert married Iona Fay Fieldgrove on July 10, 1951 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rupert was honorably discharged on September 22, 1952. Rupert and Iona lived in the Ansley area, while farming and ranching with his family. In 1971 they moved west of Burwell, Nebraska where the Calamus Lake is now. During the lake development they moved to their place north of the lake. They raised cattle and Rupert ran the Curler Factory and worked for various people.
He was a member of a saddle club and the Methodist Church where he was very active. He enjoyed horses, fishing and hunting.
Rupert is survived by his wife Iona Bristol of Burwell, Nebraska. Two daughters; Jeanne and Steven Mueller of Cambridge, Nebraska and Nancy Ann Bristol of New South Wales, Australia. A grandson, Jim and Natasha Mueller of Kanorado, Kansas. Two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Iona Mueller and William Rupert Mueller and a sister-in-law, Marguerite Bristol of Ansley, Nebraska.
Rupert was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Flora and a brother, Roscoe.
