 Wayne E. Stewart, 92, of Ord passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Valley View Living Center in Ord.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Ord Memorial Chapel with Pastor Greg Barnes officiating. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Wayne Ellsworth was born July 23, 1920, at Long Beach, California to Ernest and Lena (Timmerman) Stewart. He spent his childhood in Long Beach and moved to Ord at the age of 16, graduating from Ord High School in 1939.
On December 11, 1941, at Omaha, Nebraska, Wayne was united in marriage to Corinne Haines from Burwell. The couple farmed near Ord until 1948, when they moved to Los Angeles where Wayne worked as a deliveryman for Arden Milk. In 1950, they returned to the farm near Ord and then moved back to California in 1953. While in California, Wayne was employed as a building maintenance mechanic at United Airlines for 23 years.
After Wayne’s retirement the couple moved to Kernville, CA where they resided until 1992, when they settled in Ord. Wayne enjoyed living at Grandview Assisted and Independent Living Center for the past three years.
He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge and Kern County Conservation. Wayne enjoyed fishing, cats, riding motorcycles and playing chess. He had a love for the ocean, traveling and dining out.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Shirley Stewart of Billings, Montana, Paul and Nancy Stewart of Lake Oswego, OR; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Robert Souther of Thousand Oaks, CA; 8 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Corinne.
