Connie May, born July 13, 1941, in Manilla, Iowa, was the daughter of Ralph and Sarah Wetzel.

She grew up alongside her eight siblings in Guthrie Center, Iowa. After her father’s passing when she was 13, Connie worked at a bakery to support her family while attending school. A 1959 graduate of Guthrie Center High School, Connie moved to Des Moines, working at Farm Bureau before returning to Guthrie Center.

On September 16, 1962, she married James Kracht, with whom she had two children, James and Teresa. The family relocated to Lexington, Nebraska, in 1971, and Connie worked as an office manager for Nebraska Gas Company and Darr Packing. In 1986, she began working with Wes Lubersteadt and earned a paralegal associate degree. By 1988, she took the role as the office manager and paralegal for the Dawson County Attorney’s Office until her retirement in 2008.

Connie wed Raymond Fagot in September 1995, sharing a life of travel, golf, fishing, and dancing, until his passing in 2007. In 2008, she moved to Ord, Nebraska, to be near family and found companionship with Cleon Hansen, whom she married on December 3, 2016. Together, they shared a love of traveling and singing with the “Fun Bunch.”

Connie deeply cherished time with her family and coffee friends. She was a member of the Ord First United Methodist Church and volunteered with Second Hand Rose. Her favorite activities included traveling, shopping, gambling, playing cards, and family horseback rides.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Pam Kracht of Ord; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Bob Lange of Scotia; three grandsons, Amos (Lindsay) Lange of Ord, John (Cady) Lange of Omaha and Clayton (Morgan) Lange of Kearney; nine greatgrandchildren, Stella, Elsie, Eli, Bordy, Rex, Stevie, Grace, Roman and Adam; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rosanne Leib of Anaheim, California and Margie and Mike Crabbs of Guthrie Center, Iowa; and Cle’s family, Kelly (Deb) Hansen, Lori (Ron) Rogers, Linda (Randy) Gross and Cathy (Bob) Beran.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Jesse Taylor; husbands, Ray Fagot and Cleon Hansen; brothers, Burton, Ralph, Donald and Charlie Wetzel; and sisters, Elnora Pureell and Betty Thompson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church in Ord, Nebraska. Pastor Arsene Lumami and Pastor Josiah Mono will officiate. Interment will be in the Ord City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Hastings reports that the heaviest rainfall early Monday morning is concentrated along a corridor stretching from Red Cloud through Hastings to Central City, farther east than initially expected.

Rain has been expanding westward, while showers across the southeastern portion of the county warning area remain more isolated and light.

Rain is expected to taper off from west to east between 5 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m. Tuesday. Additional rainfall totals are forecast to range from 0.10 to 0.50 inches across most locations.

Temperatures will drop into the 30s and 40s tonight, but lingering cloud cover should keep most areas above freezing. Northern and western communities, including Cambridge, Lexington, Ord and Greeley, have the greatest chance of seeing temperatures approach the freezing mark by Tuesday morning.

Cloud cover will also keep Tuesday cooler, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s — near average for late October.

Forecast models continue to hint at the possibility of light showers Tuesday as an upper-level disturbance moves through the region. However, the latest guidance suggests more areas could remain dry.

Above-normal temperatures are expected to return Wednesday through Friday, with the next meaningful chance for rain arriving Friday into Saturday.

Looking ahead to Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 31, NWS Hastings says the forecast is trending drier compared to model guidance from 24 hours earlier. The latest models indicate a 30% to 40% chance of rain during the daytime, down from the 50% to 70% chances projected in earlier forecast runs.

While some rain remains possible, the latest outlook offers a more encouraging forecast for Halloween festivities.

Michael “Mike” L. Jackson, father, grandfather, brother and resident of Ord, Nebraska passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul, Nebraska at the age of 72.

Mike was born on February 23, 1954, in Altus, Oklahoma to Willard and Willa Evelyn (Johnson) Jackson.

At the age of three, Mike moved to Ord, Nebraska, and later settled on the family farm southwest of Ord. He graduated from Ord High School in 1972 and went on to study Agriculture in Curtis.

On June 28, 1975, he married Ella Jean “Jeanie” Kokes, celebrating 50 years of marriage last year. Together, they raised three children: Erin, Adam, and Levi.

Mike dedicated his life to the family farm southwest of Ord, he started crop farming with his uncles, Laverne and Elwin Johnson. Mike started the livestock operation with hogs and then expanded with cattle and later developing the feedlot, which he operated alongside his sons, Adam and Levi.

In 2004, Mike and Jeanie moved into Ord, remaining there until her passing in 2025. 

A committed community member, Mike was a founding member of the Ord Food Pantry and served on the Ord Co-Op, Extension, church and REA Boards.

In the little time away from the farm he found joy in fishing, hunting ducks and geese, and restoring vintage metal toys.

Blessed to have shared their life with Mike are his daughter, Erin (Brad) Beyke; sons, Adam (Amy) Jackson and Levi (Mackenzie) Jackson; six wonderful grandchildren, Joseph Beyke, Brenna Beyke, Breckyn Jackson, Lexi Jackson, Hallie Jackson and Demi Jackson; brother, Dan Jackson; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Evelyn; his wife, Jeanie; uncles, Laverne and Elwin; aunt, Lucille; sister-in-law, Karen and niece, Becki.

The family will greet friends on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Chrisitan Church in Ord, Nebraska. A Graveside Service and Inurnment will held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Ord City Cemetery at Ord, Nebraska. Pastor Doug Durre will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the Ord Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department or the Ord Christian Church. Ord Memorial Chapel is assisting with the arrangements. He was the son of Gust and Agnes Foth, who instilled in him a love for the land and a dedication to family values. Gordon’s life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, humor, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

He received his early education at Valleyside rural school then graduated from Ord High School. Gordon married his beloved Rena Belle (Ryschon) on April 27, 1958 at Mira Valley Church in Ord. Their marriage was blessed with seven children, who brought them immeasurable joy. They spent many years farming alongside his dad and brother in the Mira Valley area.  Gordon and Rena celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to her passing, building a life centered on faith and family, creating a lasting legacy. 

A lifelong farmer, Gordon was passionate about tending to the land and raising livestock. He often shared his farming wisdom, reminding others that “nothing runs like a Deere!”  He loved the outdoors. When he wasn’t doing farm work, he enjoyed playing fetch with the cow dogs, tinkering with the farm equipment, helping his kids train their 4-H animals (a challenge he relished), and always took time to enjoy the Nebraska sunsets. Gordon also worked 18 years with the US Postal Service till his retirement, serving his community with the same commitment he brought to his farm.

Gordon was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, cheering enthusiastically on game days whether he was at home, in the barn, or in the fields. He also found joy in the music of old cowboy legends and often attempted to “sing” lines from their ballads to make his family laugh. His playful spirit also shone through as he cranked up the car radio during the ride home from church to listen to The Big Joe Polka Show much to the amusement (and occasional eye roll) of his kids. His quick wit and talent for telling “dad jokes” (even before they were a thing) brought smiles to all who knew him.

Gordon’s family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his children: Debra (Loren) Lind of Polk, Loree Hansen of Belgrade MT, Barbara (Michael) Nigon of Elk Mound WI, Bryan of Lincoln, Anita (Chris) Grant of Lincoln, Daniel (Tara) of Minden, and Bradley of Minden. His 14 grandchildren: Cody (Ashley) Pedersen, Meagan (Chris) LeBlanc, Matthew Hansen, Krystal (Tim) Wahl, Karie Jo (Spencer) Erickson, Kendall (Emma) Nigon, Hannah Foth, Ashley (Bryon) Wellmann, Amanda (Matthew) Lostroh, Torrian Grant, and Logan, Lindsey, Dathan, and Dakota Foth. Gordon was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Zipporah Lostroh, Alexander and Eli Wellmann, and Cecilia Wahl.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Belle; parents, Gust and Agnes Foth; parents-in-law, Francis and Ruth Ryschon; brother and sister-in-law, Gust Jr and Kay Foth;  son-in-law, Michael Hansen, and great-grandson, Henry Gordon Wellmann.

Gordon’s life was a rich tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will endure in the hearts of his family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The American Heart Association or The American Stroke Foundation.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Eventide Lincoln Care Center and Hospice and Bryan East Hospital for their compassionate care. 

Reverend Scott Smith will be officiating a celebration of life memorial service at the Mira Valley Church in Ord on Friday, October 30th at 11:00 am with lunch to follow.  The family will hold a private inurnment at a later date.
