ORD, Neb - The Ord board of education voted unanimously Monday night to let the citizens vote on a $9,800,000 school bond issue. The majority of the bond issue, $5,542,565,will renovate the existing Jr./Sr. High school building. Renovations will include addressing multiple fire and safety code violations, heating, ventilation and air conditioning issues, accessibility issues and  improvements to the library and learning environment.

New construction will cost $4,221,585and will include a full preparation kitchen, cafeteria/commons with restrooms, a practice gym that could be used for competition if private funds are raised to provide bleachers and scoreboards and a drama/wrestling practice room. The vote will be taken through a mailed ballot which would need to be returned to the Valley county clerk's office by Tuesday, November 10, 2009.

In other action Monday night, the Board approved the 2009-2010 Budget of $3,831,071. Which according to a press release from the Ord Board of Education is $43,765 less than last year's budget. The levy was also approved at $1.049186 per $100 of valuation.

Taxes Taxes is that all the school board is good for. Go ahead put that new $9,800,000 bond in and see just how many more farmers you can put out of work and then see how of the taxes will get paid.
To bad I can't vote this one down.
