Attorney General Bruning/VeraSun

Posted by Johnnie James On October - 1 - 2010

LINCOLN – Attorney General Jon Bruning issued the following comment regarding today’s announcement by Sioux Falls-based company, VeraSun Energy, not to pursue the notice of preference claims sent to Nebraska-based providers of corn and other supplies.

“We are grateful VeraSun decided to drop the pursuit of innocent Nebraska farmers,” said Bruning. “Thanks to the proactive efforts of Nebraska State Senators Annette Dubas and Kate Sullivan and our state’s agricultural industry, millions of dollars have been saved for Nebraska farms.”

Earlier this month, the Attorney General’s Office joined efforts with state senators, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture and the Nebraska Corn Board to alert affected Nebraskans of the bankruptcy claims of VeraSun Energy.
