James Bartley, a Psychotherapist in the Heritage Program at Valley County Health System, recently attended a workshop, Ethical Guidelines for Trauma Therapists: Helping Without Hurting, in Lincoln.
The workshop taught participants how to recognize the ethical standards of practice of particular relevance to treating trauma disorders; identify most common ethical lapses in work with trauma clients; recognize ways in which counselor denial and rationalization may affect ethical practice; and to recognize and be able to initiate an ethical decision-making model.
The VCHS Heritage Program for seniors is a behavioral health program that provides individualized treatment for older adults who suffer from psychiatric, emotional or behavioral disorders.
