Catchable Trout Being Stocked In Local Bodies Of Water

Posted by Lynn Daily On October - 4 - 2012

Catchable size trout are being stocked in some of our local area bodies of water by the Nebraska Game and Parks commission. Gracie Creek pond near the Calamus reservoir by Burwell NE has been stocked with 1,000 of the 10 inch trout for the renovated pond after the floods of 2010. The week of October 15th Ord’s Auble Pond will receive 1,500, Ansley Lake, 1,200, and Such’s Lake by Grand Island will be stocked with 1,300. Trout fishing is a great way to introduce children to fishing due to the simple equipment used. A spinning or spin-cast rod and reel with a hook baited with a worm work well. Trout can also be caught with spinners, salmon eggs, dough baits and artificial flies.
