Cattle Inventory Up in Nebraska

Cattle were at record numbers in Nebraska for the month of November. Nebraska feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.56 million cattle on feed on December 1, 2011,up 4% from last year and the highest inventory for any month since the data series began in 1994. Placements during November totaled 480,000 head, up 8% from 2010. The Nebraska Agri-Facts report released December 22, 2011 states corn prices continue to rise in Nebraska. The 2010-2011 market year average market price was 5.18. The 2011-2012 average market price was between 5.90 and 6.90 per bushel. Soybean and wheat prices also showed year over year increases.

The United States Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Services has released the survey results on: Cattle on Feed, Supply and Disappearance, Leading Commodities for Cash Receipts for 2010, Dry Edible Beans, Potato Stocks and Production and Milk Production.
