SCOTIA, Neb. – Harry Wright of Scotia was killed Friday night in a farming accident.
According to Greeley County Sheriff David Weeks, Wright and his wife Crystal were fixing fences on their property and Crystal returned home early.
When Harry didn’t return home as he said that he would, Crystal went back to the field and found him pinned under his John Deere skid steer.
Harry is the father of Miss USA Nebraska competitor Belinda Wright. Belinda was in Las Vegas preparing for her competition on May 16th but returned home to Scotia Saturday.

I am so sorry to hear about this accident. For the last 19 years I have been working as a nurse to prevent farm fatalities. Equipment overturns are the number one reason for farmer deaths. And, unfortunately, agriculture is the most deadly industry in America with almost twice the number of fatalities per 100,000 workers of the next closest industry. Each one is a person with a family and a community who will miss them dearly.

Mrs Wright,I was very sorry to hear of your loss. When I was in my teens and 20′s I worked on our family farm in Clovis,California raising alfalfa to be sold to dairy and cattle farms. My dad before he died in 1966 of a heart attack, had always impressed on me the always present danger using farm equipment but the work had to done day or night time mowing, discing and raking.Know you are involved in a very productive and worthwhile endeavor for our country!! As a side my niece Jackie Fontaine served as Miss California in 2006 and went to the Miss America event in Las Vegas in 2007.Best of everything to you your daughter and your whole family after your loss and know prayers are being said for you at this time.Gary Steinhauer
