Posted by KNLV News On April - 30 - 2010

DONIPHAN, Neb. – Keenan Kremke of Karp and Krow 4-H in Ord was crowned the junior high school champion Thursday at the 41st Cornhusker Trapshoot at the Nebraska Trapshooting Association home grounds, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Kremke won with a score of 99X100 on 16-yard targets.

The Crete Junior No. 1 team of Cole Bodfield, Isaac Betke, Matt Siedhoff, Caleb Scholz, and Luke Siedhoff won the junior high team title with a score of 463X500.

A record 1,811 shooters, including 643 in junior high, registered for the three-day trapshoot, where safety is the top concern. All participants must be certified in hunter education. “The kids have been shooting in their conferences for the last six weeks,” said Terry Brentzel, co-shoot director. “With six weeks of supervision by coaches and parents, they know safety is the No. 1 priority on the range. In 41 years here, there never has been an accident.”

The trapshoot continues today and Saturday with 238 senior high school squads shooting 100 16-yard targets today and 100 handicap targets Saturday. The overall individual winner will be awarded the Cornhusker Cup on Saturday.
