A community of friends and neighbors from Spalding came together Wednesday, October 13 to harvest approximately 200 acres of corn crops for Tom Langer. KNLV AM/FM radio spoke with Mark Carraher of Spalding and how he and his brother Matt, both life long friends of Tom, put together this act of kindness for their friend in his time of need. Mark stated about 25 friends and neighbors came together yesterday at about 9 am and finished the harvest by approximately 4 pm. With the aid of a local insurance agent fueling up the farm equipment, a local banker bringing refreshments and also the local Knights of Columbus providing lunch the whole process ran very smooth. Also the act of kindness of these friends and neighbors will continue this weekend with the rounding up of Tom’s cattle.
Tom Langer was involved in an accident on Sunday, October 3rd near Spalding. He was following his father, who was driving a tractor, when Tom was struck from behind by a car. The impact caused Tom’s pickup to roll. Tom is in Bryan LGH West in Lincoln NE and is not expected to be released for at least a month. Tom sustained severe trauma to his left arm and will undergo extensive rehabilitation.

I don’t live in Ord anymore, but an article like this makes me smile and reminds me why I liked Ord.. and love small towns. It’s very heartwarming to see neighbors helping a friehnd in need.
Two thumbs up to Mr. Langers friends and here’s hoping Tom recovers fully!
