ORD, Neb. – Due to inclimate weather Ord Teammates 1 hour walk has been moved to the Ord Elemetary School.
Join the TeamMates mentoring program in Ord on Friday, April 23rd to participate in the One Hour Walk: Making a Difference for Youth! Ord is joining over 50 TeamMates mentoring programs across the state for the seventh annual One Hour Walk on April 23rd at 7 PM at the Ord Elementary School.
On that day, mentors, mentees and community participants from across the state will walk in their own communities to celebrate the power of mentoring. Ord walkers are expected to register for this one hour event that recognizes the importance of the one hour that mentors spend with their mentees each week.
Registrations may be picked up at KNLV Radio, and at Good Life and Anderson Pharmacies on Ord. Cost is 10 dollars and includes a free T-shirt.
Mentees of the program will walk for free. Registration at the Walk will start at 6 PM, and all proceeds will go the the Ord TeamMates Scholarship fund for post-secondary education. Ord TeamMates will be selling raffle tickets for raffling off of prizes at the Walk as well, with those proceeds going to the Ord TeamMates scholarship fund. You need not be present to win!
TeamMates was founded in 1991 by Dr. Tom and Nancy Osborne. TeamMates is a school-based mentoring program that matches adult volunteers from the community with students in grades three through twelve. Locally, Ord TeamMates is in their 9th year and has 34 matches. As a special treat, our 4 graduating seniors will be honored at the Walk and a special appearance by the Husker mascot “Lil Red” will occur, along with games and food. Be sure and mark your calendar for this special celebration of the power of mentoring–that’s Friday, April 23rd at 7 PM at Auble’s Pond, featuring the Huskers mascot “Lil Red”!
