The Ravenna Blue Jays have forfeited 7 wins from 2011 season according to the Nebraska School Activities Association ruling of a student who played on the school’s football and basketball teams being ineligible to participate in activities for the first 90 days of the school year, but will keep their basketball State Championship.
The NSAA has ruled that one of the students who played on Ravenna’s football and basketball teams was ineligible to participate in activities for the first 90 days of the 2011-12 school year. The NSAA made this determination despite the fact that the NSAA assured the school and the student’s parents prior to the beginning of the school year that the student was eligible to participate. The school became aware that there was a question about the student’s eligibility in late February 2012. The NSAA made its decision to require Ravenna to forfeit games based on information it received from an anonymous telephone call in February. The NSAA ruling which also ordered Ravenna to forfeit it’s 6 wins in the 2011 football season, will not strip them of the class C-2 basketball title. Ravenna’s records will now change to 0-9 om football and 21-7 in basketball. The school is disappointed by the NSAA’s decision and ruling.
