The sexual assault case against a Rockville man who has been in the Valley County jail since February 20, 2012, ended with a plea of no contest to assault in the 2nd degree attempted sexual assault of a then 17 year old girl, a class 4 felony. Sherman County Attorney Mark Eurek spoke with KNLV about the charges against Reed. Police arrested Reed for sexually assaulting a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and procuring alcohol for a minor. Sentencing of Reed is scheduled for September 2, 2012.
Reed already served 15 years for the 1993 manslaughter conviction after he confessed to smothering his 7 month old son Alexander McKenny while he cared for the boy, in the boy’s mother’s Brunswick, ME home. At the time of the baby’s death in 1989, Reed told police he awoke to find the baby stopped breathing. Police suspected Reed at the time of the baby’s death, but dropped the investigation after the death was attributed to SIDS. Reed then moved to California, married and had another son. He confessed later saying he could not live with himself and so turned himself in to authorities.
