America Recycles Day, celebrated on November 15 each year, is a national campaign to raise awareness about the benefits of recycling and buying products made with recycled materials.
Locally, Keep Loup Basin Beautiful held an area contest for all 4th graders in the Loup Basin RC&D 9 counties. The “I Recycle” contest was aimed at encouraging the students to think about what they could recycle, and everyone that entered received an “I Recycle” prize.
A random drawing was held from all the students that entered, and the winner of the grand prize drawing was Mariah Sell, a student in Ms. Timmons’s class at St Paul Elementary School. She was awarded a digital camera donated by Alco Store in Ord. All the students in her class received an America Recycles Day notebook and pencil.
All the entries showed a lot of thought behind the responses, and Keep Loup Basin Beautiful wants to thank all the schools that participated in this contest.
