(NDOR). Interstate widening continues on I-80 from Lincoln east to the I-80 Mahoney
Interchange, at the Platte River. I-80, from I-180 to 56th Street, in Lincoln, is open to two lanes
in each direction with a reduced speed limit for construction. The interstate is open to two lanes
in both directions, from Waverly to Greenwood. Three lanes of I-80 are open in both directions,
on the northwest side of Lincoln and three lanes are open for travel in both directions from
Omaha west to the Platte River. The new Missouri River Bridge, in Omaha, on US-275/N-92,
has been open for weeks.
Work on Highway 281/34, south of Grand Island, to the interstate, will be opened to all
four lanes. A project at the York I-80 interchange will reduce traffic to one lane in both
directions on the Hwy. 81 bridges over the interstate. It will start August 30, and will last a
couple of months. Some traffic congestion around the signals on Hwy. 81, at the entrance/exit
ramps for I-80, is possible.
Statewide
There are still many active highway construction projects on Nebraska’s highways and
interstate. Motorists planning to travel to the University of Nebraska Home football games, at
Lincoln, should plan ahead. Check 511 from anywhere in Nebraska by phone or

information source offered by the NDOR and the State Patrol. Travelers are reminded to
buckle-up and pay attention to extra heavy traffic on game day Saturdays.
