Deb Usesz, Barb Veskerna, and Cathy Glendy employees in Valley County Health System’s Nutritional Services department have taken and passed the ServSafe Food Safety certification class. They took the class in October in Kearney, NE and received their certification in November.
The certification is designed for employees who handle and/or prepare food in restaurants and other food service establishments and lasts for five years. It is the second level of the Nebraska Restaurant Association’s “Food Safety First” program.
Some of the training concepts included:
Sanitation – the dangers of food borne illness, how to prevent it and the keys to food safety, where and how contamination starts, and the components for good personal hygiene.
Flow of Food Through the Operation – how to prevent cross contamination, how to utilize time and temperature control effectively, and safe receiving, food storage, preparation, serving, cooling and reheating.
Valley County Health System congratulates these three employees on their achievement.
