Ord and Bassett have received $15,000 in BlueHealth Advantage Wellness Grants by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska to “help build healthier communities” according to a press release from the insurance company.
The $10,000 grant to Valley County Health System and $5,000 grant to Rock County Hospital were part of 9 grants totaling $101,000.
According to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska all recipients “must measure and demonstrate positive out comes for their programs, which focus on state wide health concerns.” Concerns like wellness, nutrition and fitness programs; diabetes education; childhood obesity; tobacco cessation; health and wellness disparities/underserved populations; and prevention and early detection of chronic disease.
Valley County Health System’s grant will be used for a “Fit & Lovin’ It” wellness program and Rock County Hospital will use their funding for a “Rock Solid” program.
This is the third consecutive year that BCBS of Nebraska has awarded the grants.
