Calgary, Alberta – TransCanada’s Keystone Pipeline project(Keystone) will be donating $5,000 to the Garfield County 4-H Council to help fund repairs to the 4-H Exhibit Hall.
Garfield County 4-H Council serves rural Nebraska, a county of nine hundred square miles in the Sandhills area. Over seventy percent of the youth 5-18 participate in projects ranging from cooking to raising animals to robotics. 4-H serves as the largest youth experiential learning organization in our small county of 2000 residents.
Presentation of these funds will be made by TransCanada Keystone representative Rob Latimer to Janet Hanna at the Garfield County Fair & Rodeo in Burwell, NE at 7 p.m., July 29.
Community relations is part of the Keystone tradition as it has worked with interested parties in seven U.S. states to engage the local communities along the pipeline route since 2006. Through community meetings and outreach endeavours, Keystone has been able to engage and maintain good relations with over 5,000 landowners and thousands of community residents affected by the project.
The 2,148 mile pipeline from Hardisty, Alberta to U.S. Midweste markets is expected to be one of the largest oil delivery systems in North America with the capacity to deliver 1.1 million barrels per day.
