KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) – A doctors group says it will move ahead with plans to build another hospital in Kearney.
Sean Denney is chairman of the group, and he said Wednesday that his group would continue the construction. It has to be finished by the end of the year to be certified for Medicare and Medicaid payments.
Good Samaritan Hospital chief executive officer Bob Lanik says the doctors group rejected a proposal for the “one hospital, two campus” concept.
Earlier this month, state lawmakers announced they’d brokered a compromise between the two groups that would maintain one hospital in Kearney, but at two locations.
Lanik says his proposal was in keeping with the compromise, but a plan from doctors group called for a separate hospital.
