He returned home to run the family business which he continued to co-own at the time of his death.
On October 1, 1968, Don eloped to Norton, Kansas with the love of his life, Chrystal Brown. From this marriage three children were born.  Don was active in his children's lives, always teaching them how to problem solve and be the best at what they do. Blessed to be able to call him Dad, are his three children, Becki, John and Kari. There was never an issue that seemed too big or a problem he couldn't solve, even if that meant duct tape & wire.
Many hobbies included camping and fishing every weekend while the kids were young, stock car racing & whipping up a meal on the grill. He enjoyed gardening which included something different every year. Lots of animals were always around, but he had a special place in his heart for his dog Sadie.
Don also enjoyed serving on the Ord Volunteer Fire Department; he was charter member of Valley Rods Unlimited, and belonged to Karp and Krow and Odd Fellows.
Providing care for Foster children was important to Don. Over the years, Don and Chrystal cared for over 60 children. Betty (Wieck) Jacques, joined our family when she was 8 years old. Don shared his love of the outdoors with Betty; they were always working on a project together. Zach Frink was also a very important part of Don's life. Don loved them as his own.
Don's grandkids were as special to him as his own kids. Their visits always brightened his day. A piece of him will live on in them forever.
