Check Out The Photo’s From The 3rd Annual Burwell Chili Cook-Off

Saturday’s (Dec. 1) Third Annual Burwell Chamber of Commerce Chili Cook-Off event attracted many competitive chili entries. The Chili Feed event that followed saw great community support with hungry attendees filling the Burwell Legion Club to enjoy the wide variety of chili, rolls and desserts. Attendees also had the opportunity to purchase some delicious baked goods at the bake sale, all to benefit the Burwell Rescue Squad.

According to the panel of judges, the chili was a challenge to judge with so many different entries. However, official results were ultimately determined and announced during the Chili Feed and are listed below.

In addition to the chili judged by the panel of judges, each Chili Feed attendee had the opportunity to vote on the “People’s Choice for Best Chili,” and this year, there was a special showmanship contest as well.

Chili Cook-Off Results

1st Place – Best Chili: Donita Hagemeier, Ord

2nd Place – Best Chili: KNLV Radio’s Diana Hurlburt, Burwell

3rd Place – Best Chili: Barb David, Ord

People’s Choice – Best Chili: Barb David, Ord

Overall Best Showmanship – Marlene Freeman and Marci Graves, Burwell

“This was a wonderful event and we plan to continue to make this a yearly event,” stated Stacie Newlin – Program Administrator for the Burwell Chamber of Commerce. David Sawyer, Director of the Burwell Chamber of Commerce commented: “We are so grateful for all of the participants and everyone that came out to support the event to help out the Burwell Rescue Squad.
