The Doane Men’s College Basketball team will be playing basketball for 12 minutes in all 93 counties in the state of Nebraska. They will be coming through Ord at approximately 11:50 am on Sunday, September 2 and will be playing at the high school. They are attempting to score 100,000 points and make 25,000 three point baskets.
Coach Jim Weeks said that the plan is to arrive in a selected town in each county and play a seven-minute game between the two vans that are comprised of an orange squad and a black squad. The games will be played at local schools.
Each of the four teams will play the equivalent of eight basketball games in five days.
Ways for communities to help in the endeavor would be to provide meals, snacks, drinks or even a place to sleep. Anyone interested in helping can contact Coach Beranek by e-mail (drake.beranek@doane.edu). The squads hope to grill out each night while having cold cuts, fruit, chips/granola for lunch and fruit, yogurt and doughnuts for breakfast.
