Valley County Sheriff Casey D. Hurlburt advises that on August 5th, 2012 at approximately 4:47pm Chief Deputy Roy Crites was on patrol in the village of Arcadia when he came upon a male subject riding a motorcycle west on Owens Street by the high school with no motorcycle helmet. At that time the rider turned north onto Fuller street and he activated his emergency lights in an attempted to pull over the rider. The rider looked back at Chief Deputy Crites and began to accelerate at a high rate of speed running several stop signs through town and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit lead Chief Deputy Crites out of the Village of Arcadia and into the windy gravel roads of the country. The driver sped away at speeds of roughly 90 mph or more, continually running stop signs and ignoring the safety of himself and others. The chase lasted approximately 10 miles before the driver, Terry Wroblewski of Arcadia, gave up and pulled over. At this time Chief Deputy Crites arrested Mr. Wroblewski without any injuries and transported him to the Valley County Jail where he was booked in and cited for Driving under suspension, willful reckless driving and flight to avoid arrest. Marijuana was also found on Mr. Wroblewski. The motorcycle, a 1994 Yamaha J-60 was impounded.
Sheriff Casey Hurlburt was quoted saying “The quality of Chief Deputy Crites is always apparent in his work and his ability to perform at a high level keeping the citizens of Valley County safe. He is a tremendous asset to this Office and our community”.
