A fire call came into the Loup City Volunteer fire department yesterday, Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at around 2pm about a pasture fire on the property of Sherman County Attorney Mark Eurek. KNLV spoke with Eurek who informed us that approximately 50 acres were smoldering probably due to a lightning strike the night before. The Loup City, Ashton and North Loup-Scotia VFD’s answered the call and with the aid of a small rain shower the fire was completely contained by early evening. No damages were reported other than losses of hay bales. No cattle were harmed and no injuries reported.
