Lucy Pfeil of Hastings, Nebraska was the lucky third place winner of $300 in Ord Area ChamberBucks during the ExtraORDinary Days Duck Race which was organized by the Ord FBLA Chapter.
Lucy chose to donate $200 of her winnings back to a local organization. Having attended the Agricultural Safety Day at the Valley County Fairgrounds in the past, Lucy decided she wanted to contribute to this year’s event which was held on June 5th. The Agricultural Safety Day is hosted by the Central NE Farm Safety 4 Just Kids Chapter and provides interactive activities for youth that reinforce the importance of safety precautions and safety tips.
Kayla Hinrichs, Coordinator for the UNL Extension in the Central IV Area, states “For the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day, we purchased 100 fire extinguishers with grants and donations we had received. We were short just over $200 so this donation came just at the right time! Lucy’s generosity is truly an act of kindness. I feel very grateful that we are able to continue her spirit of giving to take her generosity and the donations of others to provide families with a fire extinguisher and help improve safety in 100 homes in Central Nebraska.”
Lucy’s generous donation illustrates the powerful impact of a philanthropic spirit. Lucy is the granddaughter of Dale and Janie Zadina.
