Raymond Lee Hackett, 76, of Taylor, Nebraska died December 3, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
Ray’s wishes were to be cremated. A graveside memorial service will be 10:30 Friday, December 7, 2012 at Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell, Nebraska. Pastor Mike Sullivan will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the Assembly of God Church in Taylor, Nebraska. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.
Ray was born July 19, 1936 at Burwell, Nebraska to Floyd and Lillian (VanPelt) Hackett. He was raised around Burwell and graduated from Burwell High School. He went into the United States Air Force after graduation. After being honorably discharged he worked in the oil field before becoming a truck driver. He lived in a number of states including, Texas, Kansas and Arizona before he moved back to Burwell.
He married Carla Sinjem on August 6, 1955 in Rapid City, South Dakota. He married Joan Benthien on August 4, 1962 in Davenport, Iowa. He was also married to Sandra Tietjens on December 14, 1988 in Flagstaff, Arizona and to Berneda Jo Ann on March, 20, 1997 in El Paso, Texas. He married Darlene Drake on September 22, 2001 in Burwell, Nebraska.
Ray enjoyed traveling and going to the coffee shop.
Ray is survived by his wife Darlene Hackett of Taylor, Nebraska. Four children, Curtus and Summer Hackett of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert Hackett and his wife of Kansas City, Missouri, Ronald Hackett and his wife of Arizona and Vicky and her husband of Arizona. A brother, Don and Sally Hackett of Iowa.
Ray was preceded in death by her parents, wives, and a son, Rodney.
