Ronald Glen Johnson, 50, of Taylor, Nebraska died September 10, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be in Kent Cemetery near Burwell, Nebraska. Pastor Dennis Davenport and Pastor Maynard McCarthy will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Ron was born February 13, 1962 in Burwell, Nebraska to Darrel and Loma (Westover) Johnson. He graduated from Loup County High School in 1980. After graduation he moved to Grand Island and drove a truck. He helped build the Virginia Smith dam at the Calamus reservoir near Burwell in 1983. Ron married Rhonda Rolfsmeyer on July 21, 1984 in Hazard, Nebraska. They lived in Litchfield, Nebraska before moving to Taylor, Nebraska. They were later divorced. Ron then moved to Des Moines, Iowa and continued to drive a truck. In 1997 he moved to Texas where he also trucked. Later he started operating heavy equipment to build roads for the wind turbines and in the oil fields. He recently moved back to Taylor.
Ron’s hobby was working. He enjoyed operating equipment and working on houses and also, going boating.
Ron is survived by three children: Gabe Johnson of Orleans, Nebraska, Jessi and Dusty Zade of Franklin, Nebraska and Gerran “J. J.” Johnson of Taylor, Nebraska. Two grandchildren, Madison and Bryson Zade. His parents, Darrel and Loma Johnson of Burwell, Nebraska. Three brothers, Denny Johnson of Burwell, Nebraska, Steve and Vickie Johnson of Taylor, Nebraska and Dean and Emily Johnson of Kearney, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews.
