Frank M. Andreesen, 84, of Ord died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Valley County Health System Hospital at Ord.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church at Ord with Pastor Glenda Pearson officiating. Graveside Services and burial will be prior to the funeral at 1:00 pm in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church; the Valley County Historical Society or the Ord Flag Fund. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Frank Andreesen was born October 5, 1927 at Filley, NE to Frank and Mary (Paben) Andreesen. Frank was raised on a farm in the Filley area. He attended rural school and Filley High School for one year, then stayed home to help his dad farm during WWII before returning to Filley High School and graduating in 1948. He then attended Fairbury Jr. College and also the University of Nebraska Agriculture College. He earned his Masters Degree in agriculture in 1971.
Frank was married to Dorothy Zimmerman at Wymore NE June 1, 1952. Frank and Dorothy moved to Taylor NE in 1953 where he taught Vocational Agriculture and in 1966 moved to Ord and continued teaching at Ord until retiring in 1989. While teaching Frank had many FFA State Farmers and State and National Officers. He was also proud of all the students the University of Nebraska would send to him to do their student teaching under him.
In 1979 Frank and Dorothy purchased the John Jewelry Store and operated it as Andreesen Jewelry for 20 years.
Frank had always been involved in softball and officiated basketball and football games for many years.
He was a member of the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church at Ord; the Church Council; Rotary Club; Lions Club; Chamber of Commerce; NSEA; OEA; NVAA; and sang with Valley Harmonizers for a number of years.
Frank is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Ord; a son and daughter in law James and Sara Andreesen of Ord; a daughter and son in law Andrea and Steven Liekhus of Dodge; 5 Grandchildren and a Great Granddaughter, Kelly and Christina Liekhus and their daughter Isabelle of North Bend, Nathan and Nicole Andreesen of Omaha, Bailey Andreesen, Cassandra Liekhus, Stephanie Liekhus all of Lincoln; a brother Herman Andreesen of Beatrice, NE and a sister Frieda Bailey of Wymore, NE.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Reiner and Tobias Andreesen and a sister Marie Grabher.
