Edward R. Osentowski, 97, of Ord passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Fathers Tom Ryan and Mark Maresh will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic School. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Richard was born May 17, 1915, in the Sumter area of Valley County, east of Ord to Frank L. and Barbara (Bruha) Osentowski. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Sumter Country School.

On May 31, 1947, Edward was united in marriage to Lillian Hrebec at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Scotia, Nebraska. The couple made their home on Ed’s family farm. In 1955, the family moved into Ord while Ed did construction work. They returned to the farm in 1960. Ed spent the rest of his working years farming and raising Hereford cattle. In 1997, the couple retired and moved into Ord.

He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Elks Lodge and National Farmers Organization. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially goose hunting. He was an avid dancer and a shot gun collector.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Ord; a son, Tom of Ord; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Larry Kokes of Ord, Darlene and Mark Freeman of Burwell and Debra and Brian Featherstone of Pittsburg, PA; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Zabloudil; three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Adam and two sisters, Helen Sheehan and Mary Mullally.
