Lela V. Jones, 92, of Ord passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Ord Memorial Chapel with Charles M. Jones, Dennis Jones and Lynn Brechbill officiating. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 am until service time at the Ord Memorial Chapel. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Kingdoms Harvest International, 3700 South 83rd St. Cr, Lincoln, NE 68506. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Lela Viola was born October 13, 1919, in Garfield County, Nebraska to David and Hazel (Philbrick) Guggenmos. She was raised on the family farm east of Burwell in Garfield County where she received her education at Lone Star Country School, Haskell Creek Country School and graduated from Ord High School in 1935. Lela received normal training which enabled her to teach at county schools in Valley County for two years.
Lela was united in marriage to Charles David Jones on August 13, 1938, on the farm in Valley County, Nebraska.
Lela lived in Southern California for four years. She made her home in Ord with the exception of living in Columbus, NE and Beloit, KS for a short time. Lela worked as the purchasing agent for Valley County Hospital.
She enjoyed gardening, embroidering, crocheting, and making quilts.
Survivors include, two sons Charles and Nancy Jones of Grand Junction, CO. Dennis and Elizabeth Jones of Denair, CA; two daughters, Patricia and Lynn Brechbill of Lincoln, NE and Aletha Wilson of San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Lloyd and Caroline Guggenmos of Sidney, NE, and Darrel and Ellen Guggenmos of Taylor, NE; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
