Frank A. Baldwin, 87, of rural Ord passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at Lakeside Medical Center in Omaha.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the Ord United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial will be held at the Pible Cemetery at 2:00 on Saturday. Military Honors will be conducted by the Ord V.F.W Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be given to the Family’s Choice. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements
Frank was born March 11, 1925, on the family farm in Wheeler County near Ericson, Nebraska to Frank and Leila (Hart) Baldwin. He was raised in Wheeler County and attended rural Wheeler County Schools.
Frank enlisted in the Unites States Army during WWII. He was at the Battle of the Bulge and served at the Nurnberg Trials. After his discharge from the service he returned to the farm in Wheeler County.
On May 28, 1951, Frank was united in marriage to Wilma Potts at Bartlett, Nebraska. The couple lived on various farms in Wheeler, Valley and Greeley counties. In the early 1970’s they settled in the Oak Canyon area of Valley County.
Wilma passed away February 14, 2011. Frank has resided in Omaha with his daughter, Willa for the last year and a half where he enjoyed his family.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Willa and Donald Vesely of Omaha, NE; a daughter-in-law, Pauline (Mrs. Dale) Baldwin of Ord; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bob Albright of Lewston, Idaho; and a sister-in-law, Verna Mae Baldwin of Apache Junction, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma; a son, Dale Baldwin; a great-grandson, Hudson Joseph Means; three sisters, Rosella Blankenship, Leona “Toni” Cook, and Jerri Kallenberger; and one brother, Elmer Baldwin.
