Rita Ellen (Cecetka) Hruza, 83, of Burwell, Nebraska died December 31, 2012 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebraska.
Funeral services will 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Burwell. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Fr. Tom Ryan and Fr. Mark Maresh will officiate. There will be a service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Omaha, Nebraska. Burial will be in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell and Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Omaha are in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Valley County Health Systems Foundation.Rita was born April 17, 1929 in Denver, Colorado to Wenceslaus and Cecilia (Osborne) Adamek. As a small child her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Omaha in 1947.
Rita married Robert J. Cecetka on August 7, 1948 in Omaha. They made their home in the Omaha area where they raised their children. She also worked in the South Omaha Boys Club for quite a few years after her children were older. Bob died on December 25, 1992.
Rita moved to the Ord-Elyria area, where her father was from, to be a caregiver. This is where she met Joseph Hruza. They were married on December 31, 1997.
Rita’s children were very important to her. She was a very social person and enjoyed visiting with everyone. Rita was a good cook and baker and enjoyed the farm life with Joe. Rita was a member of Sacred Hearth Catholic Church
Rita is survived by her husband Joe Hruza of Burwell, Nebraska. Ten children; Kathleen and Richard Elsinger of Omaha, Nebraska, Rich and Claudia Cecetka of Ord, Nebraska, Joan Thomas of Omaha, Nebraska, Thomas Cecetka of Burwell, Nebraska, Geri Nisely of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ed Cecetka of Springfield, Missouri, Elaine Cecetka-Wood of Livingston, Texas, Mary Jo Cecetka of Burwell, Nebraska, James Cecetka of Anita, Iowa and Ruth Cecetka of Lincoln, Nebraska. Fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Four step children; Dan and Tammy Hruza of Burwell, Nebraska, Wayne and Christi Hruza of Ord, Nebraska, Jean and Frank Johns of Hemingford, Nebraska and Nancy and Keith Andersen of Adams, Nebraska. One brother, Jerome Adamek of Ericson, Nebraska. Two sisters, Claire Marley of Holliston, Massachusetts and Cecilia Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Cecetka, two son-in-laws, Terry Thomas and Scott Nisely and a brother, Richard Adamek.
