Scratchtown Brewing Company is well on it's way to having a completed building on the square in Ord. Caleb Pollard, President and Business Director in charge of Sales and Marketing spoke with KNLV about the company's future plans and how the idea of opening a brewing company in Ord came to be. Pollard, a home brewer himself since 2006 was sitting at home back in January of 2012 with one of his fellow home brewers when the idea came to fruition. “We basically scratched out the idea on some scratch paper” chuckled Pollard. The rest just poured out from that point on and brought on business partners, Jade Stunkle, General Manager and Mike Klimek, Chief Brewer. Scratchtown is shooting for opening in June of this year.
Look for four styles of beer that will include: Light beer (Czech blonde ale), Hopped Wheat, dark beer and seasonal beers such as a Saison, Belgian style (peach flavored with an effervescence to it), pale ales and an Indian beer. The beers to be sold by the keg, growler (big brown jug) or by the pint. A tap room will be in the front part of the building for patrons to sit, relax and enjoy the beer. Pollard made a point to let the public know, these beer types are not your run of the mill beer selections. The alcohol content will be much higher than the average 4% alcohol content.

Look for tours, tastings and food parings in the near future and something beer connoisseurs will rejoice about..."ScratchToberFest".
