Agnes Georgia Fischer, 84, of Burwell, Nebraska died August 13, 2010 at the Valley County Health Systems Hospital in Ord, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday August 17, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Rev. Matthew Berndt will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 Monday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Agnes was born February 22, 1926 in Valley County, Nebraska to Albert and Agnes (Slossar) Lukesh. Agnes worked with her family and also was part of the Lukesh Family Polka Band.

Agnes married Henry J. “Pat” Fischer on March 5, 1947 in Ord, Nebraska. Agnes and Pat farmed together in the Burwell and Ord areas. Agnes also worked at the nursing home and cafes. She cleaned the bank and different homes. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing cards. Her family and grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Agnes was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Agnes is survived by four children: Leonard and his wife Ruth Fischer of Delaware; Linda Fischer of Loveland, Colorado; Darrell and his wife Sandy Fischer of Burwell, Nebraska and June and her husband Alan Griebel of Grand Island, Nebraska. Thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Irvin Fischer and Dennis Fischer, one brother, Richard Lukesh and a sister Emma Fischer.

    Aw. Agnes would of been uh…my Great Aunt I believe. I wasn’t really that close to her, but she was still pretty cool. Her and my Grandma both could cook lol. Her house was interesting, at least to me. I like old antique stuff. I remember going over with my grandma when I was visiting her, and there was always some sort of home-made desert of some sort. The back room or..whatever room it was, enclosed and I think it came right into the kitchen..I remember sitting on that floor and playing with farm animal figures, I used to love it! I remember listening to my grandma talk on the phone to Agnes, and I always thought it was funny how they would talk in English and then randomally and totally break off and start speaking oh Bohemian. I also remember, after my grandma moved away, her and Agnes always kept in touch with letters. So yeah, sadly I don’t keep in touch with a good majority of my family, and doing a random search for my grandma brought up this :(
