Betty June Dearmont, 81 of Ord, Nebraska formerly of Burwell, Nebraska died April 8, 2011 at the Valley View Living Center in Ord, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Pastor Lamoine Lytle and Pastor Dave Busch will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Burwell Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Dearmont was born on June 3, 1929 in Tuthill, South Dakota to Glen E and Jannie Mae (Davis) Lytle. Betty and her family lived in the Burwell area until she was a teenager and then they lived in the Ord and North Loup areas. She graduated from North Loup High School in 1947. After graduation she moved to Denver, Colorado and worked for a lawyer.

Betty married Robert (Bob) Dearmont on May 19, 1950 at the Garfield County Court house in Burwell. Bob & Betty had a dairy farm and ranched south of Burwell until Bob’s death in 1974. Betty continued to ranch & milk until 1983 when she sold the dairy cattle. Betty lived on the farm until 2001 when she moved to Burwell. She continued working by helping others with laundry, grocery shopping, and sitting with the elderly to give the families a much needed break. Betty was forced to retire after a fall when she moved to Grandview Assisted Living in January 2010.

Betty was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God church in Burwell, president of the Women’s Ministries and involved in the National Dairy Women’s Association, the Loup Valley After 5 Club, and the Willing Helpers Club. She was a 4-H leader, Secretary of the District #56 Valley County School Board, sold Shaklee, Cameo paints, and Fuller Brush products.

Betty is survived by 4 sons: Ron & Kate Dearmont of Bassett, Dennis & Bessie Dearmont of Burwell, Jay & Millie Dearmont of North Platte, Don & Pam Dearmont of Wichita Kansas, 4 daughters Doris & Ken Counts of Atkinson, Mary Dearmont of Broken Bow, Betty & Rick Stout of Burwell, and Kathy Rowse of Burwell, 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Lloyd & Shirley Lytle of Burwell, Vern & Nancy Lytle, and Glen Lytle of Pawnee IL, 1 sister Leona & Henry Schlunsen of Bellevue, sister in law Sandi (Calvin) Lytle of Grand Island, a brother in law Ken Johnson of Burwell. Numerous sister and brother-in-laws, Helen Fischer, Alvin & Amelia Dearmont all of Burwell, Charlie Dearmont of Ord, Ruby Percell of Lincoln, Ivy Everhart of Omaha, (Jim) Elmer Graham of Burwell & many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Dee Dearmont, a daughter Wendy Kissell, a grandson Timothy Counts, a great granddaughter Amber Bjorkman, 2 great grandsons, Kaid Stout and Brogan Stout, 2 sisters Thelma Lytle & Dorothy Johnson, 2 brothers Calvin Lytle & Clarence (Clay) Lytle, 2 sisters in law Wilma Lytle & Beverly Lytle, and a niece Deb Kinney.
