Gordon P. Parker, 71 of Ord passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the Valley County Health System Hospital.
To honor Mr. Parker’s wishes, there will not be any services held. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Gordon Proctor Parker was born September 16, 1940, at Kalamazoo, Michigan to Earl and Marion (Proctor) Parker. He was raised in Kalamazoo and graduated from Campion High School at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Gordon continued his education at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Western Michigan at Kalamazoo.
In 1964, Gordon was united to Mary Beth Troyer at St. John’s Church on the campus of Creighton University. The couple made their home in Omaha where Gordon worked as a Cytologist at Clarkson Hospital. He then went to work in management for Jewel-Osco based out of Chicago. Gordon returned to his hometown of Kalamazoo where they owned and operated Fin ‘n Feather Marine, a marina and sporting complex for twenty years.
In 1997, the couple moved to Ord to be near Mary Beth’s family. They settled in their county home outside of Ord where Gordon enjoyed the stock market and working in his neatly manicured yard. He also enjoyed skeet shooting, bird hunting and collecting Native American items.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Parker of Ord; and one son, Scott Gordon Parker of Baltimore, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
