Josie Absalon, 95 of Ord died Saturday, December 25, 2010, at the Valley View Living Center in Ord.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10: 30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord with Father Tom Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or the Church Altar Society. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Josephine “Josie” was born August 25, 1915, at Ord, Nebraska to Joseph and Louise (Zdrahal) Absalon. She received her education in rural Valley County.
Josie did domestic work in the area and worked as a cook in many Ord Restaurants. She resided at Parkview Village for over thirty years. For the last several years she has made her home at the Valley View Living Center in Ord.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and she enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Jerry Faimon of Ord; a sister-in-law, Adeline Absalon of Falls Church, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Frank, Louie, Joe and Stanley Absalon; two infant brothers and four sisters, Frances Absalon, Celia Blaha, Albina Gransgaard and Bessie Faimon.
