Minnie D. Sevenker, 105 of Ord passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at the Valley View Living Center in Ord.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the Ord First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Ord First United Methodist Church or the Valley County Health System Foundation. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Minnie Dora was born October 24, 1906, on the family farm northeast of Ord, Nebraska to Frank and Matilda (Waldmann) Adamek. She was raised on the family farm, attended rural country school and graduated from Ord High School in 1925. Minnie received normal training at Kearney State College and taught rural school for three years.
On August 21, 1928, Minnie was united in marriage to Edward J. Sevenker at Ord. The couple spent their entire married life farming northeast of Ord. Mr. Sevenker passed away on October 30, 1969. Minnie continued to make her home on the farm until May 30, 2009, when she moved to Grandview Independent and Assisted Living Center. Since December of 2011, she has made her home at the Valley View Living Center.
She was a member of the Ord First United Methodist Church, ZCBJ Lodge #14, an original member of the Plain Valley Extension Club, an associate member of the Dry Cedar Extension Club and 4-H Club Leader. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and flowers. Minnie will be remembered for her kolaches, sauerkraut and dumplings and cookies for the grandkids.
She is survived a son and daughter-in-law, Lyle and Rose Ella Sevenker of rural Ord; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ramona Hasek of Fremont, Rita and Tom Tolen of Ord and Betty and Leo Allen of Lincoln; a son-in-law, Joe Hruza of Burwell; a sister-in-law, Adeline Adamek of Ord, 17 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 27 great great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward, a daughter, Rose Marie Hruza, grandson, Timothy Sevenker; two sons-in-law, Frank Hasek and Verlon Barnes; six sisters, Froney Klanecky, Anna Dahlin, Erma Klanecky, Alice Kokes, Marie Kesler and Eva Lashmett; and three brothers, Edward, Frank, and Paul Adamek.
