Raymond V. “Ray” Foltz, 94, of Greeley passed away Monday, December 12, 2011, at the Veterans Home in Grand Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley with Father Don Buhrman officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Charles E. Martin Post #186 of Greeley. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the church. T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
Raymond Vincent was born April 4, 1917, near Spalding, Nebraska to Francis H. and Julia B. (Berger) Foltz. In 1919, the family moved to Greeley where Ray attended school in O’Connor and he also attended Sacred Heart School.
He worked on the family farm until he entered the United States Army in March of 1942, serving in California and Hawaii. Following his discharge in October of 1945, he returned to the family farm in Greeley.
On October 22, 1946, Ray was united in marriage to Margaret Pfeifer at St. Michael Church in Spalding. Raymond farmed near Greeley until he retired in 1970 and moved into Greeley in May of 1974.
Ray was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Greeley American Legion Post #186. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include a sister Margaret Mary (Peg) Opitz and her husband Bob of Englewood, Colorado; a brother Fritz Foltz and his wife Elaine of Greeley and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret; an infant son, Roger Raymond; three brothers Richard, Bernard and Louie Foltz; three sisters Delores Saxe, Agnes Brooks, Rosella Steele.
