Robert E. “Gene” Dulitz, 75, of Greeley passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Greeley United Methodist Church with Pastor Delano Cunningham officiating. Inurnment will be in the Greeley Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Charles E. Martin Post #186 of Greeley. Memorials are suggested to the Greeley Fire and Rescue Department. T.J. Finn and Sons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Eugene was born April 5, 1937, at Scotia, Nebraska to Lowell and Anna (Jensen) Dulitz. He was raised in Scotia where he received his education and graduated from Scotia High School in 1955.
Gene served in the United States Navy for three years. After his discharge he returned to the Scotia area and drove a truck for his father.
On September 18, 1965, Gene was united in marriage to Delores LeeAnn Berryman at Greeley, NE. The couple made their home in Greeley. Gene continued to drive a truck for himself, Delicious Foods and various other trucking companies. He also drove a gravel truck for Greeley County before retiring in 2003. LeeAnn passed away on October 22, 1999, and Gene continued to make his home in Greeley until his passing.
He was a member of the VFW Post #1347 of Grand Island, and Greeley Methodist Church. Gene enjoyed fishing, camping, being outdoors, watching westerns and visiting.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kendra and James Washington of Grand Island and Kiffany and Dave Conner of Kearney; seven grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Nancy Dulitz of Kearney and a sister, Norma Oliver of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LeeAnn; a brother, Wayne Dulitz and a nephew, Eric Dulitz,
