Stanislar “Stanley” Schneider, 87, of Burwell, Nebraska died April 26, 2011 at St. Frances Medical Center in Grand Island, Ne.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Pastor Alan Petersen will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 Friday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Fire Department or the Valley View Living Center.
Stanley was born October 22, 1923 in Custer County, Nebraska to Antone and Agnes (Cedek) Schneider. He was raised on at farm in Custer County until he went to the United States Army on March 21, 1946. Stanley was honorably discharged on November 5, 1947.
Stanley married Lila Fae Freeman on September 2, 1950 at St. Paul, Nebraska. They then lived in Garfield County. He was a mechanic for Johnson Brothers Garage unit 1957, when he began farming until he retired in 2003.
Stanley is survived by two children, Joani and Craig Hansen of Ord, Nebraska and Junior and Sue Schneider of Burwell, Nebraska. Four grandchildren, Michelle and James Bruha of Ord, Scott Dilsaver of Ord, Kyle Schneider of Burwell and Chad Schneider of Hastings. Two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Tye Bruha of Ord. Three sisters, Marie Skomer of Lincoln, Nebraska, , Emily Becker of Grand Island, Nebraska and Irma Rief of Burlingame, California.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Agnes Maxfield, Alice Thompson and a brother Antone Schneider, Jr.
