Willa “Evelyn” Jackson 89 of Ord passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Valley View Living Center at Ord.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 30 at 2:00 pm at the Ord United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Wulf officiating. Eastern Star Services will be conducted by the Andrew Chapter #41 of Grand Island. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at the Ord United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to the Ord United Methodist Women or the Ord United Methodist Church Building Fund. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn was born January 5, 1922 at Mullen, Nebraska to Andrew and Anna (Hansen) Johnson. She was raised at Mullen and graduated from Mullen High School in 1938. After graduating from High School she moved to Valley County and taught school at Vinton District 23, before moving to Grand Island to attend St. Francis School of Nursing. After graduating in 1944 Evelyn moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she was a nurse at the Veterans Hospital. She married Willard Sparks Jackson and they had two sons Daniel and Michael. In 1957 she moved back to Ord, Nebraska where she worked as an R.N. for several years.
Evelyn was passionate about her church, family and friends, traveling, music and art. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Loup Valley Porcelain Artists, Artissimos, United Methodist Women and the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughter in laws Daniel and Karen Jackson of Norfolk, NE and Michael and Ella Jackson of Ord, NE.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister Lucille Jenkins of Gothenburg, NE.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Elwin and Laverne Johnson and an infant sister.
