Neb. athlete hoping to take bobsled to gold

SHELBY, Neb. (AP) - A Nebraskan will be among the athletes vying for Olympic gold later this month.

Curt Tomasevicz and the U.S. bobsled team finished in sixth place at the Winter Games in Torino and won the world championship last year.

They hope to pick up gold in Vancouver.

Tomasevicz grew up in Shelby and played football for Nebraska.

He says he didn't grow up wanting to go into bobsledding. He says while attending graduate school, he fell into the sport in an attempt to stay in shape.

He says he's drawn wide support from Shelby and across Nebraska. He says it's one of the greatest feelings and calls it the best job perk.
